About the Position

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company established its largest tire evaluation center in 1944 in San Angelo and built its first test surface there in 1957. The San Angelo Proving Grounds facility, with an assortment of tracks and test labs, provides the company with the ability to conduct extensive on- and off-road testing.

This entry level position is responsible for supporting Goodyear’s Off-The-Road tire business needs through facilitation of testing operations workflow using department tools, procedures, and processes.

Primary Responsibilities

Testing:

  • Facilitates preparation, set-up, and execution of testing workflows.

  • Staging and movements of testing resources (tires, wheels, equipment, supplies, etc.) to and from the work areas.

  • Learns and assists with:

  • Tire and wheel preparation procedures according to test requests.

  • Tire mounting and handling procedures following industry approved methods.

  • Monitoring of testing in both Lab and Vehicle environments.

  • May serve as primary or back-up test driver as required.

Operations:

  • Learns and assists with operation of forklifts, tire handling equipment, lift trucks, overhead cranes, and other equipment as required.

  • Assists Dept. Coordinator with physical tire and wheel inventories, storage and movements of resources, shipping, etc.

  • Maintains clean and organized work areas and vehicles.

  • Maintains supply inventories in support of testing operations and daily maintenance.

  • Learns and assists with documentation, inspections, and operator level PM; monitors and reports needed supplies.

  • Adheres to daily schedule and uses testing resources as directed.

  • Participate in initiatives to foster Safety, Quality, and Values engagement.

Required Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or GED with 1+ years of experience in general industry, manufacturing, or technical OR <1 year of experience general industry, manufacturing, or technical WITH Associate Degree in relevant STEM field.

Skills and Abilities

  • Basic knowledge / experience with wheeled and industrial equipment preferred.

  • Basic knowledge / experience in tire and mechanical systems preferred.

  • Ability to carry out assignments in a logical fashion using existing tools & standardized methods.

  • Works well with a Team and individually.

  • Attention to direction and detail.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Basic skills with ability to become proficient in Microsoft Office preferred.
