Primary Purpose of Position:

The Plant Health and Safety Manager is responsible for managing the Niagara Falls Plant Health, Safety and Industrial Hygiene Programs - Maintaining the plant’s compliance with all applicable corporate policies and the requirements of regulatory agencies. This position develops programs and conducts meetings relating to the Health and Safety of the Niagara Falls (Chemical) Plant and its associates (i.e. coordination of a Voluntary Protection Program [VPP], Ergonomics, Target Zero, Shift Safety, Industrial Hygiene Committee, Plant Asbestos Program Management, Hearing Conservation, Contractor Safety and managing/conducting Investigations into near misses, accidents and process incidents.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform or Oversee the Following: Conduct Emergency Drills and evaluate the plant’s preparedness, manage Incident Database(s)/Like System(s), conduct investigations into Safety incidents, assist in Process Safety Management (PSM) Incident Investigations and follow-up on action items to completion. Update, write, revise and review Operating Procedures/Work Instructions.

Provide reports for appropriate government agencies and corporate organizations (as required).

Develop/conduct Safety Trainings and lead Plant Safety Meetings (Industrial Hygiene [IH] Committee, Ergonomics, Health, Safety and Environmental (HS&E) Meeting and VPP Meetings)

Assist in the development, roll-out and training of Chemical Divisional Programs that support Plant, Health, Safety and VPP Program Initiatives.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Safety or a related technical field

Experience:

5 or more years of experience in a Health and Safety role located in a Manufacturing or Petrochemical, Specialty Chemical or similar Industrial Environment

Experience working in a Health and Safety role located in a Unionized Manufacturing Facility - Desired

Experience managing a manufacturing location's OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) VPP - Desired

Experience developing/managing a Plant's Safety Programs - Desired

Skills:

Excellent Communication skills (ability to interact effectively from the shop floor up to senior managers)

Knowledge of and compliance to Federal and State Health and Safety Regulatory Laws

Excellent Organizational, Planning and Problem-Solving skills

Strong Microsoft Office Suite and Computer Software skills

The pay range for this position is 76162 - 141442 /yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on factors such-as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location.
