About the Position:
This position is based in Beaumont, TX.
The Engineering Section Head will plan, initiate, prepare, and control capital and expense budgets for improvements and modifications to plant equipment, processes, and facilities. This position must be aware of regulatory standards set by the local city, state and federal governments whether they are local building codes or hazard prevention regulations. He/she will also plan, organize, coordinate, control, and implement capital and expense projects to improve plant processes and equipment. Work independently to manage a team of operators, designers, engineers and contractors to deliver a project that meets the original scope. Provide expert technical support and cost-effective solutions to plant process & equipment problems. Will also assist in compiling, writing and defining engineering budgets, standards, and specifications for the plant.
Emphasize safety in all aspects of engineering.
Develop capital and expense budgets using team approach and capital budgeting system. Manage and control capital and expense projects within scope, schedule and cost.
Specify and requisition materials and equipment by providing accurate information and follow-up on processes.
Develop department procedures, follow plant procedures, corporate policies and engineering practices.
Provide technical plant support to production and maintenance exercising developed skills of project management.
Required Education and Experience:
B.S. Degree in an Engineering discipline is required.
A combination of a least 10 years of experience (office and field) in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Controls Systems, Communication Systems and the application of Engineering Principles and Project Management.
Multi-field Engineering experience considered an asset.
Management Skills, oral and written communication skills, meeting facilitation, ability to organize, sound understanding of engineering principles, and a working knowledge of other engineering disciplines.
Ability to make design layouts, read and understand engineering specifications and drawings from all engineering disciplines, problem solving skills, HS&E regulation knowledge, and budgeting process knowledge.
Sound understanding and application of engineering principles, machine design, piping systems, pumping systems, electrical system, maintenance, instrumentation, civil, mechanical, and environmental engineering.
