Development work occurs in two Goodyear Innovation Centers, including Akron, Ohio and Luxembourg; with development centers in Hanau, Germany and Pulandian, China.

The Global Technology Graduate Intern Program at The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company provides engineering and science students with practical work experience in their chosen field prior to graduation. The program is based on a specific team project. The data science intern will be part of the growing global Data Science team. Since its inception, the team’s project portfolio has expanded to include data analytics and operations research projects for manufacturing, business, supply chain and tire performance. Associates come from a broad range of backgrounds and collaborate to develop new ways to analyze and model complex processes through the use of the data available throughout the company and elsewhere.

Tasks:

  • Work with diverse sets of business, manufacturing and operations data in order to develop business process understanding and develop inputs for process models

  • Leverage data science techniques in combination with optimization approaches to develop data-driven applications that support key business and operations processes

  • Collaborate with experts from the data science, operations, manufacturing, supply chain and business units to validate models and improve business processes

Requirements:

  • A graduate student enrolled in a Masters or Ph.D. program in: Industrial Engineering, Computer Sciences, Statistics, Chemical and Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field with good academic standing.

  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and good communication skills: both oral and technical writing

  • Ability to work in a team environment in a project matrix organization

  • Experience in two or more of the following areas:

  • Processing (importing, cleaning, filtering) large data sets

  • Developing and/or applying data modeling and machine learning methodologies

  • Developing and/or applying optimization and operations research methodologies

  • Experience with statistical and mathematical modeling environments (R, Python, MATLAB, Weka, etc.)
